Intimate Fantasy
27. December 2020
This series of work Intimacy Fantasy aims to remember the biggest fantasy of festive celebration at the end of the pandemic during 2020. Last year, we all experienced many difficulties. We felt horror, panic, anxiety, and depression during the national lockdown. We also preserved hope and love for a better future and the festive celebration between Christmas and New Year’s Eve. This series of artworks was made during this difficult time, with an emphasis on expressing the complicity of feelings towards festive celebrations during a pandemic.
This series of artwork compares the multiplicity of feelings provoked from supernormal stimuli and eroticism with both positive feelings and negative feelings, creating a fold of energy. Positive feelings such as eroticism, affection, tenderness, caring, fragility, phantasy, sensuousness, desire, sexuality, imagination, playfulness, and pleasure; as well as negative feelings such as anxiety, anger, horror, offensiveness, and depression. The tension between the positive feelings together with the repressed negative feeling generates a fold of energy, which creates movement for changing and reshaping the society. Therefore, the affective embodiment in my research aims to inspire a new identity, a new voice, and a new position in a closed environment.
